if you live in philly go to this June 6-

Hello All!

I am happy to share my latest project with you opening June 6th in Philly!

Throughout the Spring I have been creating a project, Time Capsules for our Grandchildren, with the City of Philadelphia Mural Arts Program and Southwark Elementary School students, in conjunction with Tyler School of Art Temple Contemporary Gallery

For their time capsules, the students took photos of their neighborhoods and homes, hand-wrote letters to their grandchildren, gathered ephemera, and made audio recordings of advice and ideas to share with their future grandchildren.

On Thursday June 6th at 4pm we will bury Time Capsules for our Grandchildren in the interior courtyard at Tyler School of Art Temple Contemporary Gallery in a celebratory event.

The students will read portions from their letters written to their grandchildren, play musical instruments, enjoy celebratory food and officially sign the decree that the time capsules will be unearthed by their grandchildren in 50 years to the day, June 6, 2063.

Families, friends, and the public are invited to attend. If you find yourself in Philly, feel free to come!

At this exact instant on this exact planetthere are more people than you, or I, or anyone elsewould ever care to admit, that are buried beneaththe weight of wasted time. The shoulds and supposed tos and becauses and jobsand money and requirements and responsibilitiesadd up and pile up and entomb us.How many miles separate how many peoplefrom the lives they should be leading, the people they should be loving and the momentsthey will never get back? The justification of this frustrationpaints a glossy veneer of happiness over the rustof the truth hiding below it.It’s the realization of our encapsulationthat cracks the paint and lets the color fade. When do we forget the value of what we holdand when do we forget to care about the buryingwe submit ourselves to?Somewhere a much younger version of ourselves is staring into the futureraising tiny fists,  clenched into the airand screaming a wordless warning that falls ondeaf ears that age has stolen sound from.We see ourselves and we see the meaning we’ve assignedto meaningless things;we see the imagination running off the pages we painted, watercolors evaporating and leaving behind only blankcanvas, only dry brushes. Hasn’t the time come to stop this, to put waterto the burning of our futures by the flames of ourpast restrictions?  Has not the time arrived tomix the color in the water and dip the brush, dried an atrophied and lonely from the waiting it toohas endured?Live life like you love to live and make that lifethe one you’ve been waiting for.At this exact instant you and only youcan rise from the layers of wasted time, drive your hand through the sediment andfeel the sunlight on your fingers.

Text for Tired Eyes:

At this exact instant on this exact planet
there are more people than you, or I, or anyone else
would ever care to admit, that are buried beneath
the weight of wasted time.
The shoulds and supposed tos and becauses and jobs
and money and requirements and responsibilities
add up and pile up and entomb us.
How many miles separate how many people
from the lives they should be leading,
the people they should be loving and the moments
they will never get back?
The justification of this frustration
paints a glossy veneer of happiness over the rust
of the truth hiding below it.
It’s the realization of our encapsulation
that cracks the paint and lets the color fade.
When do we forget the value of what we hold
and when do we forget to care about the burying
we submit ourselves to?
Somewhere a much younger version of ourselves is staring into the future
raising tiny fists,  clenched into the air
and screaming a wordless warning that falls on
deaf ears that age has stolen sound from.
We see ourselves and we see the meaning we’ve assigned
to meaningless things;
we see the imagination running off the pages we painted,
watercolors evaporating and leaving behind only blank
canvas, only dry brushes.
Hasn’t the time come to stop this, to put water
to the burning of our futures by the flames of our
past restrictions?  Has not the time arrived to
mix the color in the water and dip the brush,
dried an atrophied and lonely from the waiting it too
has endured?
Live life like you love to live and make that life
the one you’ve been waiting for.
At this exact instant you and only you
can rise from the layers of wasted time,
drive your hand through the sediment and
feel the sunlight on your fingers.

The deadline for PDN’s Face Photo Contest 2013 is approaching. Folks can enter their work in a variety of categories: animal portraits, commercial/editorial/assignment, personal work, babies/children and self portraits. The grand-prize winner receives on-campus photography workshops from Anderson Ranch Arts Center in Aspen, CO. Not too shabby!

Dietmar Eckell - Happy End, 2010-2013

Happy End is a photo-project about miracles in aviation history - 15 airplanes that had forced landings but ALL on board survived and were rescued from the remote locations. The planes remain abandoned.

The Moon is regularly abused by meteors, but NASA recently spotted a super bright flash as a space rock hit the lunar surface. Here’s what happened.

he is hope

nose pressed to shoulder

lips brush the cotton

breathe in clean

he’s sweet

it’s so easy when we’re cheek to cheek

but i cant sit

Mermaid Parade Announcement!

Project Update #5: Oh not much just a ROYALTY ANNOUNCEMENT

Posted by Coney Island USALike

Ladies and gentleman please rise for his and her majesties…

KING NEPTUNE JUDAH FRIEDLANDER &

QUEEN MERMAID CAROLE RADZIWILL

We felt based on Judah’s PSA for the Mermaid Parade that he’d make for a benevolent ruler and we can think of no better prerequisite for Queen than Carole having to deal with her fellow Real Housewives of New York City (plus she’s anactual princess)!

An official statement from Judah:

“As The World Champion - I’m well known as the greatest karate hero on the planet, best athlete in the world, the top sexually desired human in history, and a role model to the children.

I’ve also been fighting for the rights of mermaids for decades. As someone who has had romantic relationships with mermaids and solved underwater crimes with mermen when Auquaman was too scared to take on a dangerous mission, it gives me great honor to be named King of the Mermaids. And believe me when I say I will be a king of the mermaids for the mermaids. It’s an honorary title, it does not mean I rule over mermaids. It just means I protect them and standup for their rights. And have sex with them if that is their demand.”

An official statement from Carole:

“Ditto.”

So there you are Kickstartmer-maids…You heard it here first! Let the rest of the world know at your leisure. And get pumped for new royalty rewards coming on Monday. You will also know about that first! Duh.

Save the mermaids and join the fun here: HERE
